15th International Workshop on Railway Noise

The International Workshop on Railway Noise (IWRN) brings together leading researchers and engineers in all fields related to railway noise and vibration. The first IWRN was celebrated in Derby (UK) in 1976 and from then on, the workshop has been held regularly (every three years since 1995) contributing greatly to the increased understanding of many problems in railway noise and vibration.

Following the ethos of the workshop, the 15th IWRN will be held in a remote but accessible place. The chosen venue is Isla de la Toja (Illa da Toxa in Galician language), in the northwest corner of Spain, the region of Galicia. La Toja is a quiet and charming island, surrounded by the beautiful marine landscape of the well-known Galician “Rias Baixas”.

The participants will be able to meet colleagues from all over the world and have fruitful discussions, but also will have the opportunity to enjoy the delicious local gastronomy. This is the first time that IWRN will be held in Spain, a country with a railway industry with long tradition and where railway development has been a key point in the Government agenda in the last decades, so we are very enthusiastic with the workshop organization.

As in past editions, the oral presentations will be arranged in a single session format to allow for comprehensive discussion of topics, and there will be dedicated poster sessions and an exhibition area. Moreover, a novel feature in the present edition is the inclusion of a specific registration option for online attendance, allowing those who cannot join the workshop to access the live or recorded presentations and the proceedings.
