- Introduction Speech BCIs aim at reconstructing speech in real time from ongoing cortical activity. Ideal BCIs would need to reconstruct speech audio signal frame by frame on a millisecond-timescale. Such approaches require fast computation. In this respect, linear decoder are […]
- Accurately determining the time constant of a circuit enables IoT nodes to easily read out resistive or capacitive sensors. However, power and cost constraints lead to hardware limitations that complicate such measurements, including ADC noise, sampling clock jitter, poor voltage […]
- It is well-known that the Modified Cramér-Rao Bound (MCRB) holds particular value in nonstandard deterministic estimation scenarios. Specifically, it proves invaluable when, in addition to estimating deterministic parameters, one needs to determine the probability density function (p.d.f) of the data […]
- This study investigated the role of harmonic cancellation in the intelligibility of speech in “cocktail party” situations. While there is evidence that harmonic cancellation plays a role in the segregation of simple harmonic sounds based on fundamental frequency (F0), its […]

- Babies crying is an essential signal to elicit care, conveying both information on the baby’s identity and current physiological state (discomfort, hunger or pain). The aim of my thesis is to investigate how adults perceive information contained in babies cries, […]
- In recent years, MEMS (micro-electromechanical system) microphones have become a key component in a wide range of consumer electronic devices. The need to improve upon existing applications, such as voice pickup for phone calls, as well as the development of […]

- Automatic speaker recognition (ASpR) has been integrated into critical applications, ranging from customised assistant services to security systems and forensic investigations. It aims to automatically determine whether two voice samples originate from the same speaker. These systems primarily rely on […]
