ISMA 2026 – International Symposium on Musical Acoustics

The International Symposium on Musical Acoustics ISMA 2026, hosted by the Department of Music and Technology at the University of the Arts, Helsinki, Finland, will take place between June 15-17.

The event is a joint effort by the University of the Arts Helsinki, Aalto University, and Acoustical Society of Finland.

The topic of the symposium is “Sounds of the past into future” which will be reflected by the plenary speakers, and the optional pre-symposium workshops. Aside the scientific program, there is a possibility to visit the Aalto Acoustics Lab, to engage with local instrument making traditions and to enjoy the sauna and the midnight sun. With these optional events included, we suggest reserving the dates between June 14-18, 2026.
